The photographer is Peter McNally. He owns copyright to the photo, and he agreed to do the necessary in terms of letting Wikipedia know and making the image CCA. I think he found the process too complicated and gave up. Other images I entered, also by Peter McNally, are Nude on a Red Chair, May Hooper on Brown Paper and the Lanark Book Cover lithograph (1981). Again, Peter couldn't figure out the permissions process.

I contacted Bill Wild, the photographer of the Oran Mor auditorium photograph, and he was more successful, luckily. The page needs some visual content. I can ask Peter to have another go if you think I should? — Preceding unsigned comment added by May Hooper (talk • contribs) 07:08, 13 January 2020 (UTC)

I only just realised you are (or have the same name as!) the subject. Do you by any chance own the physical work of art? That might change the situation, I'm not sure. --The Huhsz (talk) 22:45, 13 January 2020 (UTC)

But actually, on reviewing Commons:Village pump/Copyright#Image copyright I think it doesn't matter. I'm afraid these files will need to be deleted. --The Huhsz (talk) 21:34, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
The UK Copyright Act 1956 had this: Subject to the last preceding subsection [not relevant here], where a person commissions the taking of a photograph, or the painting or drawing of a portrait, or the making of an engraving, and pays or agrees to pay for it in money or money's worth, and the work is made in pursuance of that commission, the person who so commissioned the work shall be entitled to any copyright subsisting therein by virtue of this Part of this Act. That clause was removed in the Copyright Act 1988 which went into effect in 1989. So if this work matches the above description, and the act happened in 1984, then copyright may not be with the artist but rather the commissioning party.
